Summary
Dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) is a colorless organic solvent which enters the cell and distributes inside the cell to prevent the formation of damaging ice crystals during the freezing procedure.

Application
DMSO is widely used for freezing cells in cell culture. DMSO prevents the formation of ice crystals during the freezing process. DMSO is commonly used at a concentration of 10%. Please note: DMSO is toxic to cells. Usually, a freezing medium consists of standard culture medium supplemented with 10% DMSO. Sometimes 90% serum supplemented with 10% DMSO is used as freezing medium, which may enhance viability in some cell types. After thawing it is recommended to wash cells in medium or to change the medium the day after plating.
Usage
This product is intended for Laboratory Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. This product may not be used as a pharmaceutical or veterinary drug, agricultural product, or food additive.
