Description
PAN-Biotech EDTA 1:5000 (1X), 0.2 g/L in PBS, w/o Ca and Mg.
Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), a chelating agent, is often used to remove calcium from cell washing and suspension media. EDTA can reduce clumping of cells grown in liquid suspension. It is also used for gentle detachment of certain adherent cells for passaging. EDTA is often added to trypsin solutions to enhance enzymatic activity by neutralizing calcium and magnesium ions that enhance cell-to-cell adhesion and obscure the peptide bonds on which trypsin acts.
