Introduction
Glasgow's MEM (GMEM) was developed by Ian McPherson and Michael Stoker for use with adherent kidney cell lines such as baby hamster kidney cells (ex. BHK-21 cells) to research the genetic factors that affect cell competence. Compared to the original Basal Medium Eagle (BME), Glasgow Minimum Essential Medium contains twice the concentration of amino acids and vitamins.
