Introduction
McCoy's 5A Medium (modified) is a complete medium with all amino acids and vitamins. It is used for growing primary cultures. This group contains marrow cells, gingival cells, adrenal cells, spleen cells, lung cells, rat embryos and other cell types. McCoy's 5A medium was originally developed by Dr. Thomas McCoy as a modification of Basal Medium 5A. Unlike other media, McCoy's 5A is unique in that it contains the reducing agent glutathione, bacto-peptone, and a high level of glucose.
