Introduction
PAN-Biotech Nystatin Suspension 10,000 U/ml in DPBS is a fungistatic and fungicidal polyene antibiotic commonly used as a cell culture media supplement to control fungal contamination. Its mode of action is by increasing the permeability of the cell membrane of sensitive fungi by binding to sterols, mainly ergosterol. Its main action is against Candida species. Nystatin is produced by Streptomyces noursei and Streptomyces aureus.
Application
Nystatin solution is often used as a cell culture media supplement to prevent contamination with fungi; it has no antibacterial activity.
