Introduction
CMRL 1066 Medium is a chemically-defined medium, which was developed in the late 1950s by Connaught Medical Research Laboratories. CMRL 1066 was originally designed for serum-free culture of L-strain cells, as a highly modified and less complex version of Medium 199 (M199). It has been used to maintain monolayer growth of permanent cell lines for years without protein supplementation. Initially developed for serum-free conditions, it can be supplemented with serum and used to support the growth of many types of cells.
Composition
CMRL-1066 is a nucleoside-rich and vitamin-rich medium. This version of CMRL-1066 contains no L-Glutamine and no Phenol Red, and is buffered with 2.2 g/L NaHCO3. CMRL-1066 contains no proteins, lipids, or growth factors.
