Description
Urokinase Human Purified Protein is a two-chain glycoprotein containing 411 amino acids with 12 disulfide bonds. It has a molecular weight of 54,000 Dalton.
Urokinase, also known as urokinase-type plasminogen activator, is a serine protease that specifically cleaves the zymogen plasminogen to form the active enzyme plasmin. It is involved in numerous biological functions including fibrinolysis, embryogenesis, cell migration, tissue remodeling, ovulation, and wound healing.
Synonyms
EC:3.4.21.73, urokinase-type plasminogen activator, UK, U-plasminogen activator, uPA.
Source
The enzyme is purified from human urine.
